With an increase of ballmilling time, superior electrochemical reactivity is imparted owing to enlarged active area and increased catalytic ability. The obtained graphene nanosheets are sensitive for electrochemical oxidation of phenols (, hydroquinone, p chlorophenol, and p nitrophenol), and thus qualified for the simultaneous sensing of trace level of phenols.
Results and Discussion. In a typical experiment, ball milling was carried out in a planetary ballmill machine (Pulverisette 6, Fritsch; Fig. S1A) in the presence of graphite ( g, Fig. 1 A), dry ice (100 g, Fig. 1 B) and stainless steel balls (Fig. S1B).Detailed experimental conditions for the ball milling can be found in the Materials and Methods section and Supporting Information.
Lowcost, highyield production of graphene nanosheets (GNs) is essential for practical applications. We have achieved high yield of edgeselectively carboxylated graphite (ECG) by a simple ball milling of pristine graphite in the presence of dry ice.
